The moment he heard that there was a carnival in Lilycove, he wanted to check it out for himself.[break][break]

Of course, they were nothing like the carnival fairs back home, but they at least tried to hold a candle to it![break][break]

While not as bright as the neon fare of Nimbasa, there were still a multitude of rides that had seemingly sprung up overnight. From a Ferris wheel to a roller coaster; from booths offering all sorts of sweet, sticky treats as well as games of luck and chance—it really did seem like they tried to bring some Unovan flavoring all the way to Hoenn.[break][break]

Alexei was all over it, as always. Having spent quite some time in Nimbasa before heading on to Castelia and eventually out of Hoenn, he was familiar with carnival fair sightings and all that. He wondered if his sister got the message he had sent along with a picture, showing off the towering Ferris wheel ride.[break][break]

‘Come down to Lilycove, you’ll be very surprised what’s here,’ was the caption that the picture message had. He hoped that she had time to goof off today.[break][break]

Alexei's sister came running down the street with a Steenee in tow, her pink locks bouncing with each step as she smiled and waved at him excessively. The Steenee, on the other hand, seemed utterly exhausted by her trainers antics. But in good spirits nonetheless as they slowed.

"We passed a fudge parlor we just had to visit. Here, I brought you some!" She added, digging into the leather purse strapped from her chest to pull out a small white bag full of a variety of different little fudge logs.

Whether he dug in to pick one or not, Adelaide would look over her shoulder at her Steenee and gesture for her to come closer with a nod. "Don't be shy, it's just my dorky brother!" She giggled, turning back to Alexei when the Steenee inched closer to inspect the young man. "Alexei, meet Peachie! Peachie, Alexei."

With one of it hands raised just below its chin, the pokémon stared at Alexei with eyes brimming of curiosity.

“You’re lucky I still have my sweet tooth after all these years,” he mused as he dug round in the white bag that rustled and crinkled with the promise of something sweet.[break][break]

Ooh, candy, he thought as he pawed around inside, looking through it and fishing out a couple of pieces. “Are you sure you wouldn’t mind?” he inquired, unwrapping one and placing it on his tongue. Tart, tasty—just like how it always had been.[break][break]

“Hey this reminds me of the candy they sell in the stalls back at Nimbasa… you think they really came from there?” he continued, chewing on a few of them—mmm, just the right amount of chewy goodness. He then popped a few more into his mouth before noticing that she wasn’t alone—and this time it wasn’t Papaya who was with her.[break][break]

Gee, I wonder how they never get tired around her, she’s practically a sugar-fueled rocket, he thought with a grin as he saw the Steenee hiding behind her.[break][break]

“Aww, she looks so adorable! I—I have one of her evolved form. And boy she’s one bossy Pokémon. Enjoy that form while you still can,” he joked with a grin still on his face. Looking all around them, he wondered what they could do first![break][break]

“You want to go on a ride, or want to try out some of the game booths?” he offered. “I saw some shooting games and some other catching stalls over there,” he added, pointing behind him casually. Oh, how he wanted to win a stuffed toy for her![break][break]

Was this him trying to make up for all those years? Maybe!

Adelaide giggled as Alexei referenced his sweet tooth and dug around in the bag. There was something magical about how happy she felt when she offered someone a gift or a treat— especially when it was her long-lost brother. So one can imagine how silly his next statement was in the face of that. "Of course not! Silly Billy..."

Her brother recalls the candy stalls in Nimbasa, and Adelaide grins before nodding. "Yes! Eh, well, no. The man from the candy parlor said they're made the same way, but they're also a unique blend. Either way, I picked them out just because I knew you'd be somewhat familiar with them!" When he's finished pulling out a few and begins tasting, she rolls up the bag and stuffs it back into her purse with a pleasant hum.

When she turns back to see him chewing still, her eyes drift towards the carnival setting ahead of them. "Now that you mention it, a lot of things here remind me about Nimbasa... look at that ferris wheel!"

Steenee then decides to step forward after deeming the chocolate-eating man approachable. Alexei awes his sister once more with his declaration that he has one of its evolved forms, then warns her about its bossiness.

"Haha! I'm not surprised, honestly, big bro. You could probably use a bit of bossing around from time-to-time! But tell her to ease up now that I'm here, 'kay?" She added with a cute giggle.

The moment he suggests heading to the carnival, Adelaide practically bounces before rushing forward and looping her arm around his. "Let's go!" She commands, tugging him along eagerly. There was lots of time to make up for!

“I swear, if we find that one booth that has that particularly tasty blueberry-flavored taffy you know what I’m going to buy a lot of,” he replied, just as enthusiastic.[break][break]

The tart flavor exploded in his mouth, and he soon crammed a few more pieces in after the first, because he was going to let them all melt on his tongue while they dashed around. He wanted more, but he was too embarrassed to ask her for any more because she kept the bag for later.[break][break]

“Look, I haven’t been on a Ferris wheel in years. The faires that come by here aren’t as loud, as flashy, as… as nostalgic as this one,” he admitted. Truth be told he was too busy with the Gym most days to actually have time to goof around, but ever since the arrival of a certain blonde-haired man he found himself actually trying to balance his time between the Sanctuary / Gym and… well…[break][break]

He then felt himself being dragged along—honestly, when she got going there was no stopping her![break][break]

“Wait for me!” he called out, quickly righting his footing and keeping up with her.[break][break]

“Look, you haven’t seen all my Pokémon companions yet… most of them are… strangely overprotective of me and I do not know why,” he said presently, taking in all the sights and colors at once.
